A SHIFT IN CONSCIOUSNESS
There's a massive shift in consciousness coming and there are only two ways to prepare for it.
You can either go with the flow and accept that a lot of things that you have previously never thought to question about our society are going to change.
Or you can fight against it. You can whinge and moan and stay in denial and go to bed anxious every night.
We Have Already Experienced Privilege
Many of us have experienced great privilege in our lives already. We have not lived through a war in our country. We have not been uprooted from our land. We have always had enough to eat and somewhere to live. We have family and friends who we can turn to during dark times and celebrate with on happy occasions.
We have also been privileged to live during the extraordinary age of mass-communication. We are all playing our part in this new civilisation.
A computer inside a children's toy today is more powerful than the most powerful computer was ten or twelve years ago. Isn't that extraordinary? Technology is progressing so fast and affecting every aspect of our lives in a new way every day.
In the West we have television, radio and reading entertainment freely available. We can get out our mobile and call up any of nearly 4 billion people and we can contact any of 2 billion people online.
And all this has happened so recently and we have been lucky enough to be the early adopters and have fun with it all.
There are Many Changes Still to Come
The next few years will see many changes in the world we are used to.
The oil leak in the Gulf will be a turning point. The horrific event has made it clear that as a society, we now have no choice but to look for new forms of energy that do not desecrate the planet.
Recent problems with volcanic ash mean that many of us will stay closer to home and family more often. Financial instability in Europe indicates that it truly is time to batten down the hatches and watch our spending carefully.
There will be more uncertainty in the months to come. Each of us must now begin to think for ourselves. The media is full of articulate journalists but we must be careful that we do not just absorb their views but take the time to decide for ourselves what our personal values are. Journalists are paid to fill column inches and keep their readers happy. We have to be careful to recognise that.
Many People will Give of Their Best
In our new society we will see more people opening up to one another and being
ready to give each other a helping hand. Those that want to live like this will easily attract other similar friends into their environment.
Those who want to hold change back, to look out only for themselves, to live in fear and anxiety (admittedly sometimes with good reason) and to continue to look on the bleak side, will find themselves in similar company.
Look at the big picture. We live in an amazing world and, if we take the time to look for them, there are opportunities out there for all of us to lead a happy life. Stay positive, go with the flow, and you will find that everything will be manageable and you will feel and be supported.
Choose the other path - and inevitably, you will attract what you expect and life will not be so easy for you.
I know which path I want to be on.
