The British are Becoming More Outspoken
Posted by Judy Piatkus in Our Future Lives
Friends of ours have just returned to the UK to live here after many years abroad.
They are still in that honeymoon phase where they see only the good and not the bad.
Interestingly, they are very impressed by how much more outspoken the British have become since they have been away.
They feel that we are now able to express ourselves much more directly than in the past.
If we are not happy about something, we will speak up and say what we want.
The British have always been a very tolerant society and I believe we are now even more so.
When I travel on the tube, I am constantly fascinated by the faces of the people in the carriage alongside me.
Every nation on earth is represented on the underground system every day.
We are able to live harmoniously – for the most part - beside one another in this big city and we are getting much better at communicating with each other.
Many of us are becoming more tolerant of difference than in the past.
Perhaps other nations in the world can learn from our example.
