Look Out for Amazing Single-Use Gadgets for All of Us
Posted by Judy Piatkus in Future Trends
In the last 15 years we have lived through massive technological changes in our daily lives.
It was only in the mid-1990s that it became possible for offices to equip their staff with desk-top computers in large numbers.
But just a couple of years later every business had upgraded its technology – and if it hadn’t, it was already being left behind.
Now, only 11 years later, we are being offered a vast range of small technological gadgets which will be created to give us the best possible user experience.
There has always been a debate as to whether it is better to have one amazing piece of equipment which does everything you want it to although nothing especially well – or two separate machines.
For example, we can choose whether to have a washing-machine and a drying-machine combined – or separate machines for each function – which are generally agreed to offer a better wash.
Or we can have an all-in-one music experience, or turntables, amplifiers and speakers all of varying quality.
It is always more difficult to produce a machine which combines two or more operations and does that as well as having the best possible individual gadget can do.
The new trend in technology will therefore be a lot of experimentation with machines that combine a wide range of technologies with single use devices which aim to offer the user the best possible experience.
The iPad has caused headlines and is both beautiful and functional.
But we are about to see a massive explosion of single-use devices being launched onto the market because these may provide a better user experience than the multi-functional devices.
A single use device is frequently less complicated and easier to use.
It can provide the optimum experience by focusing on just one function for the owner and doing that supremely well.
Prepare to be awed, surprised and delighted by the ingenuity of innovators to cater for hundreds of new niche markets which are all suddenly opening up.

It’s interesting to think of an explosion of single use devices as giving an optimum experience when we as humans are needing to be more multi-functional. We can no longer specialise in one area but have several strings to our bow. Interesting times ahead.
