How to Play Your Part in the Changing World We Live In

We have been born into the most amazing period in history, more amazing in some ways than any prior civilisation has ever experienced.

We have at our fingertips access to all the knowledge that is available to mankind. And every day, throughout the world, this vast body of information is increasing in a way that is beyond our imagining.

We have many free borders and can live, travel to and work in many different countries other than the one we were born in. We have access to millions of people and marketplaces with our mobile phones and computers.   Humanity has truly become a global nation.

Where are We Going?

But how do we make sense of it all? What is it all for? What will become of us in a few years time?

We hear so many horror stories about the world of the future. We don’t hear enough good news about positive change and about the changing consciousness of millions of people throughout the globe.

In his book, Blessed Unrest, Paul Hawken wrote about the growing movement of concerned citizens, people from every country and every walk of life, who are forming small groups in order to work towards a healthier planet and a better world.   He describes this vast wave of people as having three interconnected branches: social justice, environmental activism and the fight of native indigenous people against the dominance of the large business corporations.

We Can All be Part of the Future

Every day more and more people throughout the world join this movement. In their hundreds and in their thousands, they are deciding to play their part.   They are digging deep into their heart consciousness to find the area of voluntary work that has most personal meaning for them.

Then they are joining up with other concerned and caring citizens.   Small goals are set. Some are achieved; others might not be. But every individual has clarity around the direction they are going in. They know what they want their actions to result in and they are doing their very best to work towards a more beautiful planet and a more enlightened consciousness.

So next time you feel overwhelmed by fear and doubt and awe about the scale of the problems that the world is currently facing, know also that there are many people out there who are working towards something better.

We Can All Make a Difference

Some people achieve massive things in their lives; other create something much smaller.

Not everyone is here in the world to be a leader or to be the instigator of massive changes. Many of us are much more comfortable being followers and playing supportive roles. That is fine. Not everyone can be the leader.

Wherever we choose to place ourselves, some will be called to greater things. But the most important thing is to know that we are not alone.   There are many others out there with whom we have fierce ideals in common. There is so much that all of us can do to work together to co-create the changes that we would like to see.

Each and every one of us – in our own small ways – can choose to link up and make a difference.

We just have to want to!
